Dr. Matthew Lyons is a dual fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon. His clinical focus includes advanced treatment of shoulder, elbow and wrist conditions, sports-related injuries, knee ligament injuries, cartilage restoration and fractures of the upper and lower extremities.

Dr. Lyons brings extensive orthopedic experience to Proliance Orthopedic Associates. He finished both medical school and residency at the University of Washington. He then completed two fellowships in Sports Medicine and Hand surgery at the University of Virginia, serving as an assistant team physician for the UVA and James Madison University sports teams. Prior to joining Proliance, he spent 12 years in practice at Kaiser Permanente. For the last three years, he served as Chief of Orthopedics and participated in multiple regional and national leadership committees.

Dr. Lyons was drawn to Proliance Orthopedic Associates because of the opportunity to work alongside physicians at the top of their feld while practicing within an independent physician-led model of care. He values the ability to provide thoughtful, collaborative treatment, while helping patients return to the activities and lifestyle that matter most to them. He believes treatment should be individualized- whether that means beginning with non-surgical options, considering surgery when appropriate, or adjusting the plan if the first approach does not provide the desired result.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Lyons is an avid skier and UW sports fan. He and his wife enjoy volunteering and supporting their twins in their multiple activities.
